We are having the first (of many I hope) wine festival here in Villeneuve les Corbieres on the 7th of June. It starts at 12 noon and goes on all day. It will include wine tasting, visit with a wine maker, classic cars & motorbikes plus entertainment for children. Fingers crossed to weather will be bright and sunny. These last few weeks and been wet and miserable. There is also an organic food market on Sunday the 8th June (from 9am ’til 7pm) at Chateau de Bonnfous ( Villesque des Corbieres ) which we may pop to if we don’t over indulge on Saturday!

Carcassonne, a medieval city of FRANCE. This is a massive tourist draw for our area and can be so busy in the summer, but is a real pleasure to visit in spring, when it is still cool enough to wander around the city for an hour or 2 before enjoying a decent lunch in the new/lower town.

A look around the Basilique de Saint Serin, Toulouse. It was a cold and wet weekend when we visited Toulouse, hence trying to spend time undercover. Good thing it is only a 2 hour drive from home.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy meet with workers at a market complaining that France was getting more expensive.
Summer is in the air and my thoughts are turning to exploring my region. I have plans to create a few new websites this year to add to my collection of French sites.

I’ve been pondering which villages and towns to explore and capture in photos and videos. Lagrasse is on the cards but apart from there I have no idea yet which other locations will get Randallized. I will have to dig out a map and do a little planning, ensuring that whichever towns or villages end up in my sights have a nice spot to enjoy lunch.
